- The Queen of Hatred

The Queen of Hatred (O-01-04), also known as Magical Girl before Observation Level 3, is an Abnormality resembling a young, pale-skinned girl with 4 fingers. She has large, yellow, stylized eyes. Her long hair has a pastel blue and purple gradient as coloration with two strands curled away in the shape of antenna. She wears white tights with pink accents, a pink, layered/pleated skirt, a pink shirt with white sleeves, and a large pink ribbon on her chest to match. She has two wing-like pieces on her shoulders and a pink and black heart clip in her hair. Beside her is a pink staff topped with a winged a star which has a heart-shaped hole at its center. Its grip is striped with yellow and pink, and the base is tipped with a pale blue heart with a pink star in the center.

Ability

Her abilities will trigger under several different circumstances, along with its Qliphoth Counter dropping to 0. Her Qliphoth Counter will decrease by 1:

• Upon obtaining a Bad Work Result.
• If fewer than 3 employees (Agents or Clerks) have died before each Qliphoth Meltdown. Unlike certain other Abnormalities that track employee deaths, Execution Bullets count towards the Queen of Hatred's requirement.

Her state will change depending on her Qliphoth Counter and have the following different effects:

• Normal State ( Qliphoth Counter 2): At the end of the work, regardless of the result, The Queen of Hatred will blow a kiss in the form of a heart that expands from her position, fully healing the employee's HP and SP.

• "Hysteric" State ( Qliphoth Counter 1): The Queen of Hatred will drop to her knees as dark hearts appear above her and break in half. Her face will turn dark and her eyes will start to glow. In this state, the Success Rate will decrease and, depending on the amount of PE-Boxes produced, her Qliphoth counter will increase (16 or above) or decrease (Lower than 16).

The Queen of Hatred possesses two ways to breach, Passive and Hostile.

Passive Breach: She will breach containment in her humanoid form, assisting in the Suppression of breaching Abnormalities or Ordeals. This will occur once Emergency Level 2 has been reached. She possesses a moderately high amount of HP at 1200 and average Movement Speed, levitating while moving.
While Passively Breaching, she will teleport to a random breaching Abnormality or hostile entity. In this form, she possesses 3 different attacks:

• Star Attack: The Queen of Hatred's most common attack. She swipes with her staff, shooting stars from long range that deal around 13-15 Black Damage to targets hit and recover the HP and SP of employees hit by the same amount.
• Finger Gun Attack/'Arcana Beats': A more uncommon attack used in tandem with her stars. She will raise one arm and form a gun-shape with her fingers (similar as Funeral of the Dead Butterflies) as her staff floats in front of her, before firing and launching a wave of energy dealing 80-120 Black Damage to targets hit. Employees hit by the attack will recover 40-60 HP and SP. This attack has an initial cooldown of 12-16 seconds, and a cooldown of 8-12 seconds for every subsequent use.
• Laser Attack/'Arcana Slave': Occasionally she will charge a powerful attack, holding out her staff and creating an array of rings and heart-shaped figures. While charging her attack, the Queen of Hatred will become immune to all damage. This then fires a piercing laser that goes across the facility in a horizontal line, dealing 12-15 Black Damage every 0.5 seconds to any hostile entities, while restoring the HP of employees by 4-5 and the SP of employees by 7-8. This laser lasts for 10 seconds and, if it is consistently hitting enemies, will increase its size and damage after 5 seconds, strengthening to 15-18 Black Damage. After she concludes her attack, she will stop to rest, unable to move or attack for 5-8 seconds.
• If there are no hostile entities near her, she will teleport to another location with a hostile entity.
• She will return to containment once all hostile entities have been defeated. If 20% of the employees currently within the facility die during her escape, she will drop to her knees, like in her "Hysteric" state, unable to move or attack. She will remain in that state for a while before transforming into her alternative form and proceeding to become hostile. During this time, employees are able to attack and suppress her.

Hostile Breach: The Queen of Hatred will breach in a hostile manner when her Qliphoth counter reaches 0 or when 20% of employees in the facility die during her Passive Breach. The Queen of Hatred will start to transform, floating into the air as multiple light blue spears impale her. Finally her staff will float above her and impale her, triggering her transformation.
She takes on a new appearance, specifically a light-blue snake-like creature, with black, empty eye sockets, a pink lower jaw, a pink ribbon on her chest, a pair of big light-blue wings with purple and pink feathers, and arms coming out of the side of her head with purple hands. Her back and spine are decorated with several heart-shaped objects, with pink borders and a black interior. The Queen of Hatred's hostile breaching behavior is as follows:

• When breaching in a hostile manner, the Queen of Hatred will immediately teleport, prioritizing areas with employees. When she teleports, she will create an 'explosion' that inflicts 20-26 Black Damage to nearby entities. After she teleports, she will crawl around for a few seconds, before preparing her main attack.
• Once ready to attack, the Queen of Hatred will stop and crouch for 3-5 seconds, facing towards a target (Employee or Abnormality) in the same room, before raising up and firing a laser that spans the facility in a horizontal direction, dealing 4-6 Black Damage every 0.5 seconds to those hit and slowing targets hit by 50%. The laser steals HP from the targets, healing the Queen of Hatred by 5-8 for every damage instance. Just like in her Passive Breach, the laser will increase its range and damage if it is consistently hitting enemies, increasing to 6-8 and then 8-10 Black Damage. As with her Passive Breach, she will rest for 5-7 seconds, unable to move or attack, before teleporting to another location and repeating her attack pattern.
• If the Queen of Hatred loses 30% of her Max HP during her pre-Laser crawling, she will instantly teleport to another room with employees in it, which includes the room she is already in, and perform her explosion attack. Her forced teleportation thresholds are at 70%, 40%, and 10% Max HP, showing that the Queen of Hatred will always teleport 4 times (counting her initial teleport).
  • When defeated, her form will break apart and reveal the 'Magical Girl' falling slowly to the floor, with circular lights below her. Then she will return to her containment unit with the Qliphoth Counter resetting to 2.

Strategy

The Queen of Hatred is one of the most notorious Abnormalities in the game due to her escape-prone nature and her suppression being difficult to accomplish.

Management

The most important aspect of the Queen of Hatred is outlined in her 2nd Managerial Guideline: "When a Qliphoth Meltdown occurred in the facility without the death of 3 or more employees, the Qliphoth Counter lowered."

This necessitates the deaths of 3 Agents or Clerks at every Meltdown Level. Due to their lesser importance, Clerks are ideal to have killed in order to appease the Queen of Hatred. This can be done in a number of ways:

• Using Execution Bullets to kill Clerks. This is the most recommended option as it is the easiest to do, but it can only be unlocked after completing Disciplinary Team missions.
• Causing a lower level Abnormality to breach, letting it kill 3 Clerks and then suppressing it. This is more tedious than the first option, but is quite effective when Execution Bullets are not available. TETHs like Forsaken Murderer and Fragment of the Universe are particularly good choices due to being easy to suppress.
• Requesting Der Freischütz to shoot Clerks. While requiring a fee of energy, this is more efficient than manually breaching an Abnormality; albeit not as efficient as using Execution Bullets.

In addition, Queen of Hatred's Qliphoth Counter lowering can also be worked around using the following method, which does not require the deaths of employees at all:

• Ensure Queen of Hatred's Qliphoth Counter is at 2. The following method will not work if her Qliphoth Counter is at 1.
• Complete works until there are two works before the next Qliphoth Meltdown.
• Station an Agent next to any Abnormality that is not Queen of Hatred.
• Begin a work on Queen of Hatred with another Agent and wait until the Agent has reached 15 or 16 PE-Boxes.
• Immediately have the Agent stationed next to an Abnormality begin work with that Abnormality, thus causing the next Qliphoth Meltdown. Ideally this should occur before the work on Queen of Hatred finishes.
• If this method works, Queen of Hatred will lower her Qliphoth Counter to 1 as the Qliphoth Meltdown occurs but the almost-completed work should then finish as a Good result of 16+ PE-Boxes, which will raise the Qliphoth Counter back to 2.

This method can be finnicky to pull off but is able to circumvent the Queen of Hatred's requirement for employee death, making it notable in that regard.

Origin

The Queen of Hatred shares her story with The King of Greed and The Knight of Despair, all three being 'Magical Girls' and mentioned to be sisters. She was one of the 'heroes' who wanted to protect the world, but due to her own obsession, she became unstable and even bipolar to some degree. The Queen of Hatred has shown to be more self-aware than her sisters, as her entry mentions her ability to call the Emergency Response Department. She suffers from amnesia. While her short-term memory is reliable, she's left with very few memories at all times, forgetting recent events and most breaches and changes in form.

Her obsession with justice led her to change her stance from protecting people from 'bad guys' to her current position. For balance, there must be evil as well as good, and if there is no 'evil', she will fulfill that part by transforming into her alternate form and losing control of herself.

How she arrived in the facility and where she was found are still unknown.

Details

The Queen of Hatred responds to the four works in order from best to worst: Attachment, Insight, Instinct and Repression.

Like all Abnormalities, her energy output is determined by the number of PE Boxes (Positive Enkephalin boxes) at the end of the interaction.

The Queen of Hatred's emotional state is divided into 3 sections: Bad, Normal, and Good. Completing 0-8 PE Boxes will cause her to feel Distressed, completing 9-15 will cause her to feel Normal, and 16-22 will make her Happy. Her usual cooldown timer after a task is around 15 seconds and her Qliphoth counter is 2.

Trivia

• Her true name (The Queen of Hatred) is revealed after reaching Observation Level 3. Until then, her name is listed as 'Magical Girl'.
• The Queen of Hatred has certain connections with The King of Greed, The Knight of Despair, and The Servant of Wrath, all of them having similar objectives and sharing the name 'Magical Girl', though the Servant of Wrath only appears in Wonderlab and Library of Ruina.
• In Legacy, the last letter in her subject number, which classifies the risk level of the Abnormality, was H (HE) instead of W (WAW) for some time. This was due to an update, increasing her risk level but not changing the last letter of her subject number.
• Her E.G.O. weapon and Twilight (Apocalypse Bird's weapon) are the only weapons that can deal all four types of Damage.
• The Queen of Hatred is a reference to the genre of 'Mahō shōjo' or 'Magical girls', which are commonly represented in anime and manga. Typical examples of this genre revolve around girls who use magical powers or objects to defeat antagonists. The outfit of The Queen of Hatred is heavily inspired by the outfit style of 'Mahō shōjo' protagonists.
• The Queen of Hatred transforming into her second form holds a particularly strong resemblance to the way Mahō Shōjo work in Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
• The speech given before The Queen of Hatred uses her laser attack, as well as the name Arcana Slave, are likely references to the spell Dragon Slave from Slayers.
